3. ตัดดอกหญ้ายาวตามเหมาะสม(ประมาณ 30 – 40 เซนติเมตร)
4. ผ่าเส้นหวายให้เป็นเส้นเหลาให้เรียบหรือใช้เชือกไนล่อนแทน
5. ทำด้ามไม้ให้ได้ขนาดประมาณ 80 เซนติเมตร และเหลาปลายด้ามออกให้บางค่อนข้างเล็กเรียว ถ้าเป็นด้ามพลาสติกจะเป็นขนาดสำเร็จมาจากโรงงาน
6. นำดอกหญ้าไม้กวาดมาถักด้วยเชือกหรือหวายให้อยู่ในด้ามเดียวกัน โดยจัดเป็นพวงเท่ากันประมาณ 18-20 ช่อ ต่อหนึ่งไม้กวาด
